Keep Your Mouth Healthy With Dental Surgery

If your smile needs surgical help to get back on track, you’ve come to the right place.

Our team is equipped to perform several types of oral surgery, so you can feel comfortable with Dr. Acosta at the helm of your treatment. Below are some of the common oral surgery procedures we perform here at Acosta Dental Arts:

  • Teeth Extractions – Saving your tooth is our top priority. If that’s not possible, however, you can rely on us to remove it quickly and comfortably to restore your oral health and prevent other problems.
  • Wisdom Teeth Removal – If these third molars need to be removed, we can take care of it for you. We can even handle complex impacted wisdom teeth.
  • Bone Grafts – Bone grafts make it possible for you to get dental implants, even if your jawbone isn’t strong enough or deep enough. We’ll insert bone material in your jaw, and in a few months, your mouth will be ready for implants.
  • Sinus Lifts – A sinus lift is a type of bone graft for your upper jaw. For this procedure, we’ll raise the floor of the sinuses and place bone material in the area.
  • Ridge Augmentation – Dr. Acosta can build up your jaw ridge where you’ve lost teeth, either to prepare your mouth for implants or for aesthetic purposes.

Relax During Your Procedure With Our Dental Sedation

We understand that many people experience anxiety about any sort of dental care, especially dental surgery. To make your care more relaxed and enjoyable, we offer oral conscious sedation in pill form. Dr. Acosta will give you a prescription for the pill; all you have to do is take it before your procedure.

This type of sedation will put you in a completely relaxed state so you can recline comfortably in our chair without anxiety. However, you’ll remain awake and able to communicate with our staff. Some patients do become so relaxed that they doze off. The pill’s effects will last for several hours, so you’ll need to arrange for someone to drive you home afterward.

If you need oral surgery in North Palm Beach, look no further for excellent care. Call Acosta Dental Arts today at 561-763-9578 to schedule your complimentary consultation. You can also request an appointment using our online form.

I have been a patient at Acosta Dental Arts for approximately ten years. When I first came to the office for a cleaning a cracked tooth was found. X- rays done at that time determined that I had a cavity in the middle of my tooth. Not only in one tooth, but in several teeth that I had the amalgam (silver color) fillings replace the year before by a different dentist who did not clean out my teeth all the way before inserting the new filling. Dr Acosta replaced all those fillings and I have not had any problems with the new fillings all these years. I had to have a crown on one of my teeth about 5 year ago, Dr Acosta was a very gentile during the procedure and when he gave me the injection to numb mouth it somehow did not hurt like I thought it should. He also takes a lot of dental certifications and was able to do my root canal without me having to make an additional appointment with an oral surgeon. Brianna has been my dental hygienist for several years now. She is thorough yet gentile. The whole staff is friendly and does an outstanding job.

Common Questions About Oral Surgery

When would I need oral surgery?

You might need oral surgery for one of several reasons. At Acosta Dental Arts, we offer tooth extractions, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafts, ridge augmentation, and sinus lifts. You could need teeth removed if they’re too damaged to repair or to make way for dentures or orthodontics. Wisdom teeth can sometimes damage other teeth when they come in, making removal necessary. Bone grafts, ridge augmentation, and sinus lifts make your jawbone strong enough to support implants.

Does insurance cover oral surgery?

Dental insurance may cover a portion of your oral surgery. It is best to check with your individual policy to see what is and is not covered and to determine what your portion of the cost will be. We will happily provide an estimate of the amount you will be responsible for. To help you pay for your oral surgery, we offer third-party financing through CareCredit, LendingClub, and LendingPoint, which have attractive low-interest rates.

When can I exercise after oral surgery?

After your oral surgery, you should not exercise at all for the first 24 hours. Doing too much too soon can increase your healing time. For example, strenuous exercise can loosen the blood clot on an extraction site and cause a painful condition known as a dry socket. After the first day, limit your exercise to low-impact activities for several more days to prevent complications.
