Keep Your Mouth Healthy With Dental Surgery

If your smile needs surgical help to get back on track, you’ve come to the right place.

Our team is equipped to perform several types of oral surgery, so you can feel comfortable with Dr. Acosta at the helm of your treatment. Below are some of the common oral surgery procedures we perform here at Acosta Dental Arts:

  • Teeth Extractions – Saving your tooth is our top priority. If that’s not possible, however, you can rely on us to remove it quickly and comfortably to restore your oral health and prevent other problems.
  • Wisdom Teeth Removal – If these third molars need to be removed, we can take care of it for you. We can even handle complex impacted wisdom teeth.
  • Bone Grafts – Bone grafts make it possible for you to get dental implants, even if your jawbone isn’t strong enough or deep enough. We’ll insert bone material in your jaw, and in a few months, your mouth will be ready for implants.
  • Sinus Lifts – A sinus lift is a type of bone graft for your upper jaw. For this procedure, we’ll raise the floor of the sinuses and place bone material in the area.
  • Ridge Augmentation – Dr. Acosta can build up your jaw ridge where you’ve lost teeth, either to prepare your mouth for implants or for aesthetic purposes.

Relax During Your Procedure With Our Dental Sedation

We understand that many people experience anxiety about any sort of dental care, especially dental surgery. To make your care more relaxed and enjoyable, we offer oral conscious sedation in pill form. Dr. Acosta will give you a prescription for the pill; all you have to do is take it before your procedure.

This type of sedation will put you in a completely relaxed state so you can recline comfortably in our chair without anxiety. However, you’ll remain awake and able to communicate with our staff. Some patients do become so relaxed that they doze off. The pill’s effects will last for several hours, so you’ll need to arrange for someone to drive you home afterward.

If you need oral surgery in North Palm Beach, look no further for excellent care. Call Acosta Dental Arts today at 561-763-9578 to schedule your complimentary consultation. You can also request an appointment using our online form.

Brianna has been courteous, professional, encouraging, & helpful at getting my smile back in order. After a thorough cleaning, she lets you know what areas need "a little more time and attention" with your brush at home, and which areas "you're doing great" with. Let's face it: every hygienist asks "Are you flossing regularly?" She'll take the time to help you with areas you're having trouble flossing, and do what she can to send you on your way with a clean smile you can maintain on your own for 3-6 months until it's time for her to do whatever it takes to get your teeth squeaky clean again. Dr. Acosta has installed a crown for me, a service I've had done at other dentists (in the past), as well. All went well with that, and it's one of the best fitting crowns I've had done. If you need a dentist, and this office is "on your plan", it's a great place. Check with your insurer though, because nobody likes "surprise billing" for any medical or dental procedures... Dr. Acosta's front office staff can help you navigate what your insurance is likely to pay, and lets you know up front how much to expect their services to cost "out-of-pocket" before the dental work is done. I've been in Dr. Acosta's office several times since the Covid-19 pandemic began, and each time they've gone above and beyond my expectations to avoid any potential chances for patient exposure.

Common Questions About Oral Surgery

When would I need oral surgery?

You might need oral surgery for one of several reasons. At Acosta Dental Arts, we offer tooth extractions, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafts, ridge augmentation, and sinus lifts. You could need teeth removed if they’re too damaged to repair or to make way for dentures or orthodontics. Wisdom teeth can sometimes damage other teeth when they come in, making removal necessary. Bone grafts, ridge augmentation, and sinus lifts make your jawbone strong enough to support implants.

Does insurance cover oral surgery?

Dental insurance may cover a portion of your oral surgery. It is best to check with your individual policy to see what is and is not covered and to determine what your portion of the cost will be. We will happily provide an estimate of the amount you will be responsible for. To help you pay for your oral surgery, we offer third-party financing through CareCredit, LendingClub, and LendingPoint, which have attractive low-interest rates.

When can I exercise after oral surgery?

After your oral surgery, you should not exercise at all for the first 24 hours. Doing too much too soon can increase your healing time. For example, strenuous exercise can loosen the blood clot on an extraction site and cause a painful condition known as a dry socket. After the first day, limit your exercise to low-impact activities for several more days to prevent complications.
